Film poster

This film poster shows above key features of a thriller. For example the title 'SHUTTER ISLAND’ is in bold format this is to stand out to the audience. the reason why it is meant to stand out is because it draws the audience to look at this picture thus meaning the bold format has done its job. Secondly the the colours that have been used in this film poster are clearly white black and red these are the dominate colours. There is a hint of orange and it is some type of flame, this could have relevance to the story line. The orange flame has revealed a person and that person is Leonardo DiCaprio. this is used for a unique selling point. this is because every celebrity have a fan base and by just having his face on the front will entice the audience in. it also shows DiCaprio with a confused look this can imply with the tagline is someone is missing, means he is looking for someone and the island below may suggest to the audience that he will be searching inside the that island. The cinematic shot of the island gives the audience a little teaser of what style the film it is going to be. it shows it will be a thriller, this is because of the red titles and the rain pouring down and the waves crashing into the island which is adding to the psychological/horror thriller. lastly another USP is the directors name above Leonardo DiCaprio’s name which is which is Martin Scorsese.

above is our prop list. every prop is key to making our characters who they are and build up a portfolio of them. For example our main character drives a dark car this is because my research shows in the silence of the lambs the bad guy gets away from the the good people in a dark out car. this represents evil and this is to show the audience who our main actor is.

in the the film zodiac the main character who is the killer uses a gun and we have bought that into our film by using a gun this is to show the audience who the bad guy is and to show that he is still in war mind and not being a cilvilain
