Crime thriller Target audience

Target audience for crime thrillers

when looking at crime thrillers target audience you will need to look at both crime and thriller films to understand the audience crime thrillers are aimed at.

Crime drams target audience are both female and male of a mature age because of the strong language and scenarios. with the male side they get stereotyped to watch crime dramas as they offer a female actress that is beautiful and in the trailers it will always show some sexual nature of that woman to draw in the male audience and this called male gaze. this is the stereotype for men because as soon as there is a beautiful female everyone assumes that they will watch the film therefore its being stereotypical. with the target audience it can range from the minimal age allowed to watch all the way up to around 55. this is why its hard to specifically say what the target audience is because of its range. its also because both females and males both find crime drama's very interesting.

Thrillers target audience is slightly different to crime as thriller will appeal to of a younger audience because young adults find this type of film interesting as of the plots involved in the film that the audience feel intrigued by it. the normal certificate is 15 the reason why is because it has freighting scenes and being violent. thats why must thrillers appeal to 15-21 years olds its because they want to watch films that excite them, get there heart pumping and mainly make them feel apart of the film. thrillers appeal to females and males. the reason for males is because of the action throughout the film and it gets the heart pumping and while for the females why it draws them in because there are normally unanswered questions in the film and females like to try and figure them out.

so by mixing the two together you get a crime thriller and to drawn in your audience you need a good film trailer that makes both target audiences watch it and say that they are going to watch that. so by making a come thriller trailer you will need action, mystery, male gaze and frighting scenes. this is because it will attract a mix of people as it appeals to a massive variety of people, this means a crime thriller has a wider target audience and then it means it can make more money as more people are drawn into watching the film.

The masthead text is very bold and colourful which means that it can be spotted on the self so attention can be drawn to it and which will lead to a possible purchase.
Cover lines- these are normally smaller film titles which show close release dates and reviews about new films coming out. On the other hand the masthead is to powerful so it out shines theses cover lines which means the reader will have to pick to read these cover lines.
The tiny data above the masthead which has the price and the date. Usually it is on the back page with the barcode or even sometimes in the bottom right or left but this isn’t the case the reason for this is because the promotional films title which is a strapline is covering the page to show the reader the main film. Other popular magazines like TOTAL FILM have the barcode and price and date in the bottom but the reason why EMPIRE have done this is so that they can keep their sleek and pristine design of the image and theme.
The strapline is the title of the main film getting promoted by using big fonts and stand out colours to draw the audience’s eye as they walk past. Using the word ‘TERMINATOR’ this is a world know film so by using it as the strapline as big as it is will appeal to the audience walking past. Then the rest on the strapline is the actors names even know its not as big as the title it still stands out as its bold and bright colours so that star power can be used and draw the readers eye.
On the front cover there is a large image of two characters from the new film. There are placed central on the page and looking directly straight to engage with the audience.  Also the background to this image is an explosion happening so this can mean the characters stand out and look cool and epic. The clothes they are wearing is black this indicates to the audiences that they stand out and might pick the magazine up.
The use of large exclusive text can be key to someone picking the magazine up, so this means they draw the audience in and it can’t be found anywhere else. While using taglines like STARS INTERVIEWED, and SPECTACULAR, this is clever because they use key words which draws the audience’s attention to the magazine and the way the text is shown is that its bold which also contributes to the reader viewing the magazine.
The background colour is key to this magazine as the background colour is a dark colour and the strapline and masthead are bright and vibrant colours this will make them stand out to the reader and will catch there eye while they are walking past which makes them drawn to it and hopefully purchase.
